Wat Pa Phu Kon is located in Na Yung District which is about a 120 kilometers Northwest of Udon Thani city. This temple is located high in the mountains and was just recently built last year. The main attraction other than the great serene location is the 20+ m long reclining Buddha carved out of Italian Carrara Marble. Since the location is ideal for meditation practice, their are many buildings scattered throughout the mountain used to house meditation groups.
The “Wat Pa Phu Kon” temple is located in the mountains (Phu Kon) along the Thai-Lao border in the north-west of Udon Thani province. In the middle of nowhere! It is a kind of meditation temple that is also visited by many Thai & Lao people. I would call it a tourist attraction. Beautiful build on a beautiful location. If you are travelling with your own car, be aware that the last part of the road leading to the parking place is steep, very steep.
